I have no idea. It depends on personal preference.

Great having you here Wole.
Hi Terry,
Thanks for sharing your idea and your cake journey so freely. Please i have a question, is it okay to frost/crumble coat wedding fruit cake with chocolate ganache or stick with good old marzipan?
Hi Bunmi, Ganache should be fine. Buttercream is what I frown against strongly.
Hi Terry
Hello, I thought it’s okay to crumb coat any cake be it fruit cake plain cake….with buttercream.
Not traditional fruitcakes.
Hi Terry I have been a follower for awhile now and I must say your selfless sharing of knowledge on this blog is inspiring. You talked about frowning strongly against the use of buttercream on fruitcakes, may I ask why?(seeing as you are my cake sensei an all that!😁)I would like your opinion sir.
Thanks Umami for your kind words. They just don’t go together taste-wise. Fruitcakes are best filled/frosted/decorated with fruit jellies/jams, royal icing or marzipan.
