Draped Aso Oke Cake
Aso oke is a Nigerian fabric worn majorly during special occasions like weddings and festivals. It is a hand loomed cloth made majorly in the western part of Nigeria. I find this fabric very captivating and it has inspired some of my past cake designs such as the bundles of aso oke and the independence cakes shown below.
This is a 2 tier cake. The top tier is a 6 inch red velvet cake frosted with creamcheese frosting while the bottom tier is an 8 inch carrot cake frosted with creamcheese frosting. All the design work was carried with with marshmallow fondant.
This cake features 2 lovely white and gold brooches. I have a tutorial here on how these brooches were made.
