Dressed Igbo Woman Cake
This cakes depicts a well dressed Igbo woman with her head tie, beaded lace top, double wrappers, shoes and jewelry to match. Igbo is a language and an ethnic group found predominantly in eastern Nigeria. In this cake, I tried to feature the attire you would find an Igbo woman wearing when she is heading out for a festival or ceremony. In particular, it features the iconic star Ankara wrapper which is worn by a lot of women in Nigeria. The cake was made for a grand mother who was marking her birthday.
The cake itself is a two tier 6 on 8 inch cake. The top tier is a red velvet cake frosted with creamcheese frosting. The bottom tier is a Nigerian cake frosted with vanilla buttercream. All the design work was done with marshmallow fondant.
On the right side of the cake board is a red stiletto. A tutorial on how I make my shoes can be found here.
On the left side of the cake board is a bracelet made with beads. The bracelet is made entirely of marshmallow fondant and a tutorial on how to make it can be found here.
A tutorial on how this cake was made cane be found here. Below are a few other views of it.
