Noah’s Ark Cake
A friend of mine was dedicating his daughter and wanted a cake to mark the occasion. They wanted something unusual and not conventionally shaped. That was a tough one as all the ideas I had were either round or square cakes. I then remembered I had always wanted to do a Noah’s ark cake and decided to give it a go. 24 fondant animals later, this lovely cake was created. This is one cake I love so much and it turned out just the way I envisioned it.
The top tier of the cake is an 8 x 5 inch red velvet cake frosted with cream cheese which I made using my method of dry fondant paneling. The bottom tier is an oval shaped Nigerian Style cake frosted with vanilla buttercream. All the design work and the animals were made with marshmallow fondant.
Below are links to tutorials on how some of the animals were made. In most case, all you need make are the heads of the animals.
