Lego Chima Jigsaw Puzzle Cake
Though I love all my cakes, this one has a special place in my heart. I was asked to make a Lego Chima cake featuring the character Laval. As with most of my character cakes, I knew nothing about Lego Chima or who Laval was. After a few minutes of researching the internet, I became acquainted with the animation series and set out to make this cake. This is my first jigsaw puzzle cake and I’m very excited about how it turned out.
My initial idea for this cake was a 2D Laval on a round cake. I had earlier made a Skylanders Cake for this same boy and was just going to make something similar but with a Lego Chima theme.
I however decided to go with something more challenging and turned the 2D figure into a jigsaw puzzle. I did not know how it was going to turn out, but I’m glad it turned out great. To see how I made the jigsaw puzzle topper, click here.
The cake itself is a Chocolate Butter Cake frosted with Chocolate Buttercream. All the design work was done with marshmallow fondant. A tutorial on how this cake was made cane be found here. Below are a few more views of the cake.
