The Making of a Paris Bridal Shower Cake
This is a post on how I made this Paris Cake for the bridal shower of a lady who got engaged under the Eiffel Tower. As you will see below, the direction of a cake design can change somewhere along the creating process. To see more views of this cake and read more about it, click on this link.
THE PROCESS:
(1) The first thing you need to do is make the fondant Eiffel Tower. I have a post here on how I made it. It should be made about a week before hand so it has enough time to dry.
(2) The second thing you should make are the rose buds. I have a tutorial here on how I make them.
(3) Third. make the pearl necklace. Again, I have a post here on how I make these.
(4) Cover your cake board with white fondant. You can see how I cover my cake boards here. Drape you cake in mauve colored fondant. Mauve is a pale tone of purple. Place some melted white chocolate on the cake board and place the cake on it. The cake is 10 inches in diameter.
(5) Like I mentioned earlier on, the original design of this cake was different. It was going to be a large white and purple bow in front of the cake. I made the bow and placed it on the cake. You can see how I make my bows here.
(6) Next, I placed dowels in the cake, covered a 6 inch cake card with purple fondant and placed on the dowels. Melted white chocolate was used to stick the card to the cake. There was the possibility of a store bought Eiffel towel being used on the cake in case my fondant tower didn’t hold up. That was why the dowels were placed in the cake: to hold the weight of the other Eiffel tower. It so happened that this step was unnecessary as my tower held up.
(7) Next, I felt the bow looked too plain and decided to color it with purple pearl dust mixed with vodka. I hated it and knew I had to change the design.
(8) I removed the bow from the cake and replaced it with 3 layers of folded white fondant to give the illusion of layers of fabric.
(9) Next, I placed the white rose buds in the folds of the white fondant.
(10) Next, I painted the white fondant and rose buds with pearl luster dust mixed with vodka to give it a silky look.
(11) Next, I placed the pearl necklace on the white fondant along with a few white sugar pearls.
(12) Finally, I placed the Eiffel tower on the cake. Melted white chocolate was used to stick the tower to the cake. That’s all there is to it. Don’t forget to cover the cake board with a ribbon. Happy baking!
Whao! Whao!! Whao!!!….. Dis is superb,gr8t job indeed
