Fondant Jigsaw Puzzle Tutorial (Lego Chima)
This is a tutorial on how to make fondant jigsaw puzzle toppers. This topper was made for a Lego Chima Jigsaw Puzzle Cake. In this tutorial, I am making a Laval from Lego Chima Topper. This is the first time I am attempting to make a jigsaw puzzle out of fondant and I am happy to share the process with you. In summary, it starts off with a 2D fondant topper which is then imprinted and cut into with the “jigsaw puzzle cutter.”
THE PROCESS:
(1) The first step is to make your puzzle cutter. Now, I am almost certain that there are jigsaw puzzle cutters for sale out there which will make your work a lot easier. I however did not have access to any and had to make mine myself. To do this, I used a hot knife to cut a petal off a plastic rose petal cutter. You will see how I used this below.
(2) The next step is to make your fondant 2D image. I have a comprehensive tutorial here on how I make my 2D images. Below, I will show a pictorial of the process. Feel free to jump to Point (3) if you are already familiar with this process.
(3) The next step is to turn the 2D image into a jigsaw puzzle. To do this, you will need your improvised cutter, a ruler and a fondant wheel. The process is really quite straightforward. You use the ruler and wheel to divide the image into vertical strips. Each strip is then embedded with the cutter. Cut off excess fondant from the ends of the image and make a couple of holes in the image itself. You will need to work fast as you do not want the fondant to dry before you are done with the process.
(4) When you are done, leave the topper to dry for at least a day before using.
Well done boss..This is awesome
Thanks Teniola.
