Fireman Sam Cake
This cake was made for a young Fireman Sam enthusiast. I am very excited about this cake because this is the very first time I am making a human figurine. I am glad I finally confronted my fears and tried out something different. This cake turned out exactly the way I planned it and the feedback was very positive.
As any baker would attest to, carving a cake isn’t always the easiest thing to do. This cake was originally baked as two 10 inch square pound cakes. Both cakes were carved to take on the shape of a fire truck. The cakes were frosted with Vanilla Buttercream and all the design works were done with marshmallow fondant.
The star of this cake is of course Fireman Sam himself. I have a pictorial on how I made him here. Yes, he is not the best looking Fireman Sam in the world, but all the same, I’m stoked.
There are several sides to this 3D cake. There is a 3D ladder on top of the fire truck which can be detached. The dump bed of the truck was padded with black fondant to look like the original Fireman Sam fire truck.
The front of the truck has a dark windscreen and several lights and panels.
A challenging part of this project is that I had to replicate the same design on both sides of the truck. Thus, the back of the cake is equally as lovely to look at as the front.
