Teapot Cake
What happens when a princess turns 2? She invites her friends over for a tea party. This cake was made for a tea party themed birthday party for a 2 year own lady. When I was asked to make a teapot cake, I was a bit skeptical as I have had a bad experience with covering spherical shaped cakes in the past. I decided to take the bull by its horns and surprisingly, it was not as difficult as I had anticipated.
The cake is a two tier cake. The top tier (the teapot) is a pound cake frosted with buttercream frosting. The bottom tier is a draped stool made of red velvet cake and frosted with creamcheese frosting. The designs were made with marshmallow fondant.
Some elements of the teapot such as the sprout and handle were made a few days in advance so they could dry properly. The teapot is covered with flowers and dotted with butterflies.
The bottom tier was made to look like wooden furniture. I got this idea from one of my previous cakes: Flowers in Wooden Flower Pot Cake. The colors for the draping were made to match the tray for some cupcake teacups which accompanied the cake.
Like I said earlier on, this cake was accompanied by some cute teacup cupcakes which were chocolate cupcakes frosted with chocolate buttercream frosting, covered with marshmallow fondant and topped with a ganache and marshmallows (such indulgence!).
Also accompanying this cake were some cute decorated sugar cubes.
wow… You inspire me to work more on my baking. I cannot decorate cakes just yet but I’ll sure be taking tips from you…. Your creations are always on point.
I was thinking, do you have a Youtube channel?
Thanks Abisola. No, I do not have a youtube channel.
