Teddy in Opened Gift Box Cake
This was a cake made for a friend’s son. I was given the option of doing whatever I wanted to do and I settled for this design. It is actually two cakes on a cake board as the box cover is also a cake.
This cake is a French Vanilla Sponge frosted with Vanilla Buttercream. The designs on the cake were made with Marshmallow Fondant.
The Teddy is of course the star of this cake. It is actually an incomplete teddy with just a head, hands and a fifth of its body. It however looks like a complete teddy in a gift box.
The gift box is covered with a lot of white gift papers. They were placed there to conceal the fact that the teddy was not full. They were arranged to look random and full.
The second part of the cake is the gift box cover which has diagonal silver and blue stripes. The box is topped with a silver bow which looks like a real bow made with a ribbon. A tutorial on how to make these bows can be found here.
The celebrant’s name was written on a white tag and placed on the cake board.
