This is a pictorial on how I made an Aircraft for an Aircraft themed cake which can be found here. The pictures below tell the story of how the aircraft was constructed. I however need to make a few points:

NOTES:

(1) The main body of the plane and all the other parts were made about two weeks before the cake itself was made. This was because they needed a lot of time to dry.

(2) Though not shown in the pictures below, the tail part of the fuselage was supported with some paper towels while drying so it could keep its shape. The paper towels were removed only after the fuselage had dried.

(3) I forgot to take pictures of the wings and stabilizers when I made them. They were made in advance and designed only after they had dried properly.

(4) Finally, the wings and horizontal stabilizers are held underneath by strong floral wires. This additional support is needed to keep them in place so they do not fall off.

As always Terry you’ve made it look easy. Well-done!

This is beautiful. Is the body of the aircraft made with fondant? In most of your work you use marshmallow fondant , that means it dries and becomes hard abi?
If it is made with fondant , can modeling paste or pastilage be used? Since it dries hard too.
    Thanks
