confirmation Cake
This cake was made for the confirmation of a cute boy called Declan. I was shown a cake and was asked to replicate it. I decided to put my own twist to it and this is what I came up with.
This is a two tier 8 on 10 inch square French vanilla sponge cake frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered with marshmallow fondant.
The cake is covered with white and baby blue fondant thus giving it a soft baby-like appearance. Each cake box has large circular patterns and ruffles at the top.
The cake was topped with 3 teddy bears in various positions. I have a tutorial on how to make a basic teddy here which can be worked on in order to achieve these and other types of teddies. This tutorial can be found here.
The most challenging part of this cake was the name cubes which are also mini cakes. I was determined to make them work and though not perfect, I feel they came out nice.
This is one cake I would love to make again and possibly improve on.
