Purse on Leopard Printed Stool Cake
A friend’s daughter was celebrating her 8th birthday. She asked me to send her some cake ideas so she could show her daughter. As soon as her daughter saw a purse cake I made for someone else, her mind was made up and nothing could be said to persuade her otherwise. She wanted a purse cake. The link to the first purse cake can be found here.
This is a two tier French vanilla sponge cake frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered with marshmallow fondant. The bottom tier is 8 inches in diameter.
I decided to try something new with the bottom tier of this cake and opted for a leopard print. This was the first time I was trying this out and I was amazed as to how easy it was to do. I have a tutorial on how to achieve leopard prints on cakes here. The bottom tier is covered with a quilted fondant piece which is different from my usual trademark quilt design.
The top tier is a pink purse with white details and gold ornaments. The celebrant wanted her name on the cake and she got what she wished for.
I tied to make a different type of strap for this bag. It was tricky getting to make it stay somewhat upright on the cake, but it was achieved in the end.
The cake was finished with a sugar covered and bedazzled 8 for the age of the celebrant.
I was fortunate to witness the reaction of the little angel when she saw her cake and I can tell you that it was priceless.
Great work
Thanks
Appreciate this post. Will try it out.
You are welcome Ana.
