How to Paint Leopard Print on Cakes
Animal prints are a great way of finishing your cakes. The great thing about animal prints is that they are often random and do not have to be symmetric. In other words, you can hardly go wrong with animal prints. Two common animal prints made on cakes are zebra and leopard. In this tutorial, I will show you how easy it is to make leopard prints on a fondant covered cake.
TOOLS/INGREDIENTS:
(1) Color Paste. There should be two colors used, one of which must be black.
(2) Paint Brushes
(3) Vodka for diluting color pastes. Alcohol is always preferred to water.
(4) A Palette or container for mixing colors
(5) A cake covered with fondant.
A tutorial on How to Make Zebra Prints on Fondant can be found here
PROCEDURE:
(1) Dilute the color paste with the vodka. Do not over dilute paste as you do not want the colors to be very thin. One of the colors should be black. The second color should be one which is closely related to the background fondant color.
(2) First of all, make irregular circles on the cake with the second color of choice. The circles should be of various sizes and scattered randomly all over the cake.
(3) Next, apply the black color around the circles. Think of “C” “O” and “()” when applying the black. Apply the black color in strokes and not with smooth brushes.
(4) Finish the cake with a few black dots to cover wide blank spaces.
That’s all there is to it. Quite easy right? Yet it looks very complicated. More information about the purse cake below can be found here.
