How to Remove Seeds from Pomegranate
My very first interaction with pomegranate was in the fall of 2010. Went into a grocery store, saw this strange looking fruit and decided to try it out. I have been hooked ever since. This tangy fruit can be juiced, added into smoothies and salads and enjoyed as a healthy crunchy snack. This is how I extract the seeds.
TOOLS:
(1) A Sharp Knife
(2) A Large Bowl of Water
PROCEDURE:
(1) Slice the pomegranate into two by running your knife around the outer skin of the fruit. Use your hands to separate both halves.
(2) Fill a large bowl with water. Place the halved fruits in the bowl of water and peel out the pulp from the seeds by tearing. The seeds would come off easily and fall to the bottom of the bowl.
(3) Discard the pulp. Strain the water from the bowl to reveal the juicy seeds.
Seeds should be stored in an air tight container in the fridge once removed. It can last up to a week in the fridge.
Try using these juicy seeds in a salad like my Garlic Shrimps and Spinach Salad with Pomegranate Vinaigrette. Recipe here.
