Some folks wanted to do a cake tasting and so I decided to make this cake. It is an 8 inch square cake with damask details and a lovely lily flower. This is a very abstract cake which shows my love for the arts.

This cake has 3 layers with 3 different sponges: a French Vanilla Sponge, a Vanilla Cake and a Pound Cake. It is frosted with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and covered with Marshmallow Fondant.

A unique feature of this cake is that it has two parts to it: a white part and a blue part. Its almost like having two different cakes in one.

The blue part of the cake is covered with a lovely white damask. The color contrast makes the damask design to stand out. A tutorial on how to make the damask print can be found here.

Uniting the two parts of the cake are 2 rows of white ruffles with an appealing peach ribbon. The ribbon also has some orange buttons.

On top of the box is a lily flower made out of fondant. The flower has various color shades which gives it a life-like appearance. There are also 3 round blue buds surrounding the flower which add an abstract element to the cake decor.

All the edges of the cake are sealed with fondant of contrasting colors. Those edges were actually the hardest part of this design to execute.

I look forward to making cakes of similar nature in future. And oh, I was fortunate to take part in the eating of this cake.
