Damask Cake
A friend wanted a simple red velvet cake for her mum’s birthday. “Unfortunately” for her, I had just received a set of stencils I ordered a week prior. Well, let’s just say “simple” is an ambiguous term subject to various definitions.
This is a 9 inch red velvet cake filled with cream cheese frosting and covered with marshmallow fondant.
For this cake, I made use of the panel as opposed to the drape method as I wanted straight sides for the stencil work.
I decided to use black royal icing for the stenciling details on the sides of the cake. This was my very first time stenciling a cake and as you can imagine, I was very nervous. But in the end, it did come out ok.
I finished up the cake with some red details because I wanted the contrast. I also included some white flowers with red edges I made earlier.
On a whole, I am happy with this cake and I look forward to making more cakes with even more elaborate stencil designs.
This is beautiful esp d color contrast me likeee
