Open Bible Cake
A church was having an annual picnic and a close friend of mine asked me to make an opened bible cake for the event. In this cake, I made use of a layering technique in order to mimic the leaves of a bible. It is a cake I had lots of fun doing as I was also able to try out some new and exciting techniques.
This cake inside is an 18 by 13 inch rectangular cake made by joining 2 9 by 18 inch cakes. The right side of the bible is a chocolate butter cake and the left side is a vanilla cake. The cake was frosted and carved thereafter to achieve the bible shape.
The sides of the bible was pained ivory and later glossed with gold pearl dust. I also made some tears to make the bible look old. The edges of the bible were also dusted with copper pearl dust to make the leaves look a old.
The feather on the left side of the bible was made by painting fondant and later ruffling and cutting shreds into it.
A cross was requested. I decided to put a red veil on it. The cross was made by marbling fondant.
The bible page marker in the middle of the cake was made by braiding fondant. I late colored it with copper pearl dust to give it a leather look.
Writing the wordings on the cake was quite tasking and was done using black and red gel paste and a paint brush.
Below are some of my other bible cakes.
Honestly, this is just amazing. Im not flattering you so believe me when i say this is the best bible cake i have seen so far. i would really like to see some tutorials on the cake layering technique you used Pretty Please”
