This is a lovely princess cake made for a princess loving lady. The ensemble is a ball gown with a white ruffles skirt and a chick pink top with sleeves. The cake is a Butter Chocolate Cake frosted with chocolate buttercream frosting. The ball part of the gown was made using a Wilton Wonder Mold and the top half of the doll is a Wilton Doll Pick.

This was the first time I attempted to make a full ruffle skirt. It was tasking layering the various levels of ruffles, but in the end, the look was perfect.

Unlike the other princess cakes I make, I wanted the top part of the skirt to be small in order to show off the ruffles. Thus, I cut it out using a 6 inch disk (as opposed to a 10 inch disk) and placed ruffles on the circumference of the pink circle. I also used a rolling tool to create the illusion of stitches around the edge of the circle.

The back of the gown is perfectly draped with a pink bow detail.

The top of the dress has sleeves and a few pearl details. Being that the skirt part of the dress was already exaggerated, I chose to keep the top part simple.

The celebrant was very pleased with the cake.

Thanks. Its just like making ruffles on a garment, but in this case, use some vodka or water as thread. Cut the fondant into thin strip. Roll the fondant thin. Next brush the cake surface with some water or vodka (I prefer using alcohol when working with cakes) and apply the rolled fondant, folding as you progress along.
