Fondant Balloons Tutorial

This is a tutorial on how to make 3D fondant balloons. These balloons can be used on various types of kid themed cakes. The process is really quite easy and straightforward.

TOOLS:

(1) Lollipop Sticks/Thick Floral Wires/Dowels

(2) Paint Brush

(3) Styrofoam Block

EDIBLE COMPONENTS:

(1) Fondant

(2) Color Pastes

(3) Corn Syrup

(4) Vodka

(5) Water

PROCEDURE:

(1) Insert lollipop sticks into Styrofoam  block. Floral wires or dowels can also be used.

(3) Roll fondant into a small ball and flatten it into a disk. Insert the lollipop sticks into the disk and push it down about an inch from the top of the lollipop stick.

(4) Shape fondant into a smooth ball and gently shape it into an egg or balloon.

(5) Brush the top of the fondant on the lollipop stick with a bit of water and insert the balloon.

(6) Make a 50/50 mixture of vodka and corn syrup and brush the balloons for gloss.

(7) Use immediately or allow to dry before inserting into cake.
