Fondant Mickey Mouse Tutorial
This is a tutorial on how to make a fondant Mickey Mouse topper. The method used here is one I use a lot and involves cutting out several fondant parts and bringing them all together to form an image. For a more extensive tutorial on how to do this, click on this link.
TOOLS:
(1) Image Printout
(2) Rolling Pin
(3) Sharp Blade or X-Acto Knife
(4) Paint Brush
(5) Fondant Wheel
EDIBLE COMPONENTS:
(1) Fondant
(2) Color Paste
(3) Water
PROCEDURE:
(1) Print out the image you want to recreate and cut it into the various parts to create stencils.
(2) Color fondant with the various colors of the image, roll each piece of fondant out and leave them to air dry for about 30 minutes. This will ensure you get sharp cuts.
(3) Place the stencils on the fondant and cut out the various parts. Use a fondant wheel to make indents or marks on the various parts where needed. I had 17 parts in total here. Leave the parts to dry a bit before assembling them together. They can also be assembled immediately.
(4) Start assembling the parts together using a bit of water. The pictures below show the various stages of this process.
(5) If you want a white outline, roll out white fondant, stick the image on it and cut out an outline around the image.
(6) Leave the assembled image to dry before placing it on the cake. A tutorial on how the cake below was made can be found here.
