The Making of a White and Gold Wedding Anniversary Cake
This is a tutorial on how I made the White and Gold Wedding Anniversary Cake above. This is an easy cake to execute which requires a few elements. Though simple, it is very bold and regal. To see other views of this cake and have access to recipes used, click here.
This same cake can also be made in white and silver.
THE PROCESS:
(1) First, some preliminaries. Make the open bible topper. A tutorial for this can be found here.
(2) Next, make the brooch for the bow. A tutorial for this can be found here.
(3) The “20” sign in front of the top tier can also be made in advance. It is simply two circles layered on each other with the no. 20 stuck in front. The 20 was made using a tappit cutter.
(4) Next, if you do not have gold sugar pearls, you can make some yourself using fondant. A tutorial for how to execute this can be found here.
(5) Now, the cake. Drape a cake board with white fondant. Drape both tiers with white fondant. Stick the bottom tier to the cake board. Quilt white fondant and wrap it around the bottom tier (Tutorial here). Dowel the bottom tier. You have seen me do all these several times in the past in my other tutorials. I thus trust that you follow.
(6) Stack the top tier on the bottom tier.
(7) Place a 1 inch ivory fondant border around the base of the top tier. Create bow tails and stick to the front of the boarder. Make the bows (Tutorial here) and place in front of the bow tails. Mix vodka with gold luster dust and paint the bow, bow tails and ivory border.
(8) Stick the brooch and number tag to the top tier.
(9) Place the gold fondant pearls on the bottom tier.
(10) Finish the cake with the bible topper. Place some fondant underneath the top part of the topper to elevate it. That’s all there is to it. Happy caking!
