Baby Dedication Cake with Dove Toppers
This cake was made for a close friend’s daughter’s dedication. I wanted to make something unique for the family and decided to try out some new techniques. One of the new techniques I tried out was the ruffles on the bottom tier. Even though it was time consuming to execute, the end justified the means. I was really happy with the way the cake turned out as every element was just as I pictured it to be. The family was very excited to receive this cake.
The top tier is a 6 inch red velvet cake frosted with cream cheese frosting. The bottom tier is a coconut sponge cake frosted with coconut-rum frosting and filled with toasted coconut flakes. All the design work was done with marshmallow fondant.
