TOOLS:
(1) Rolling Pin
(2) Pain Brush
(3) Sharp Blade or X-Acto Knife
(4) Fondant Wheel/Embosser
(5) A Sketch of a small shoe sole. Cut out.
THE PROCESS:
(1) Shape fondant to make the heels. The heels should be stumpy to support the weight of the shoe. The top of the heels should have a slope. It is best to use very firm fondant for this.
(2) Sketch a sole on paper and cut it out.
(3) Roll out fondant and cut out soles using your paper cutout as a template.
(4) Use a fondant wheel to mark the insoles.
(5) Now, the design of the shoe is up to you. To make a simple design, cut out a fondant back flap and stick to the back of the soles. A simple fondant bow cutout can be used for the front of the shoe. Stick these to the sole using a bit of water.
(6) Cut fondant into circles to use as bases for the shoes. You can use fluted cookie cutters for this too. Stick the heels to this base.
(7) Finally stick the shoe to the heel making sure the front of the shoe rests properly on the base.
(8) Leave the topper to dry before placing on top of your frosted cupcakes.
