Using roasted garlic where a recipe calls for garlic is a good way of improving the flavor profile of your dish. Roasted garlic is sweet and works great with roasted meats. They can also be used to flavor olive oil. The steps below show you how to roast garlic.

INGREDIENTS:

(1) Garlic Bulbs

(2) Couple Teaspoons of Olive Oil

PROCEDURE:

(1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

(2) Remove dry outer peel of garlic bulb leaving inner peel.

(3) Cut off the top of the garlic bulb to expose a bit of the garlic cloves.

(4) Drizzle garlic bulbs with olive oil and rub to ensure the bulbs are well covered with the oil.

(5) Place garlic in foil paper and seal. Place in an oven-proof dish and bake for about 45 minutes – 1 hour, depending on how roasted you like your garlic.

(6) Allow garlic to cool before pressing the cloves out. They will be very soft, so handle them gently if you want to preserve them in some olive oil.

(7) Your roasted garlic is ready to be used. It can also be bottled in some olive oil to infuse the oil. The olive oil can be used as a finishing oil to improve the taste of your meals. If bottling, try to use a good quality olive oil. Have fun trying this out.
