Fondant Pumpkin Tutorial
This is a tutorial on how to make fondant pumpkins which can be used on Halloween, Thanksgiving and other Fall themed cakes. The process is simple and it takes minutes to make these fondant pumpkins.
TOOLS:
(1) Fondant Wheel Or Any Indentation Tool
(2) Paint Brush
(3) Blade Or Any Cutting Tool
EDIBLE COMPONENTS:
(1) Fondant
(2) Color Pastes
(3) Vodka
(4) Corn Syrup
(5) Shortening
PROCEDURE:
(1) Color fondant orange and divide into segments. Roll the segments into smooth balls. Greasing your palms with a bit of shortening before rolling the fondant will help you achieve smooth balls.
(2) Use your palm to flatten the balls a bit to give them the pumpkin shape. Make a slight depression on top of the balls with your thumb.
(3) With a fondant wheel, make deep grooves around the sides of the pumpkins.
(4) To make stalks, color fondant grey or green, roll it into a log, make grooves on the log, cut the log into stalks and stick to the top of the pumpkins.
(5) To achieve the glossy look on the pumpkins, mix corn syrup with a bit of vodka and brush them when they are dry. Leave pumpkins to dry before using them on your finished cakes.
Happy caking!
