In this tutorial, I will be showing you how I made the Ever After High Cake above. This is one cake which involves many elements. When done right, each element comes together in a beautiful piece. I will be directing you to other posts on this website for tutorials on how to make all the several elements. To see more views of this cake, click here.

THE PROCESS:

(1) The first thing you need to make is the stiletto shoe. I have a tutorial here on how I make my fondant shoes. Let your imagination run wild and think of something flashy and exaggerated when you are making your own shoe.

(2) Next, make the bow head bands. I have a tutorial here on how I made them.

(3) Next, make the cake topper which is the diary cover.  This topper was made via my method of dry fondant paneling which I use on a lot of my cakes. A pictorial on how this topper was made can be found here. This is the most time consuming part of the cake and can be done over a number of days if you choose to. Also make another plain diary cover which will serve as the bottom cover.

(4) Next, make the draped cake board. A tutorial on how I make my draped cake boards can be found here.

(5) Stick the bottom diary cover to one side of the cake board leaving room for the other elements of the cake.

(6) Bake and frost your square cake. Stick the frosted cake to the diary cover.

(7) Cut out purple fondant panels the same length and height as the sides of the cake. Use a fondant wheel/embosser and a ruler to make vertical and horizontal stitch lines on the soft fondant panels and stick these to the sides of the cake.

(8) Next, roll fondant into thin tubes and line the base and edges of the diary with these tubes. This should be done only at the back and sides of the diary.

(9) Next, place the prepared diary cover topper on the cake to finish the look of the diary.

(10) After completing the cake, move on to the other design elements on the board. Start by sticking the fondant stiletto to the board.

(11) Stick the head bands, crystals and sugar pearls to the cake board. The dark diamond shaped gems were made of rock candy. I will be doing a tutorial on ow I made these in a future post. That’s all there is to it. Happy caking!
